Kick-start a healthy and charitable 2020 in your workplace

This January, workplaces from Norwich, Greater Norwich and Great Yarmouth are invited to take part in the Wrap Up and Get Out Workplace Challenge. It’s a fun and engaging way to support your employees with their mental well-being and physical health.

On this page you’ll find everything you need to get your organisation up and running with the challenge.

Why should my workplace take part?

By promoting good health amongst staff, your organisation can also see benefits including improved mental well-being, reduced sickness absence, increased productivity, higher morale, enhanced company profile, and reduced pressure on your car park by encouraging active commuting!

So it’s a win-win, really!

How does my workplace get involved?

Active Norfolk have produced a marketing toolkit, full of useful resources, to help you promote the challenge in your workplace.  If you would like the toolkit to be emailed to you, please contact katie.tierney@activenorfolk.org


How can you promote the challenge in your workplace?

Promotional resources will be made available for you to use to promote the challenge in your workplace(s) and to provide guidance to employees on how to join the challenge and use the app.  In addition, Active Norfolk will provide workplaces with ideas and information on local and national initiatives that can support your employees to build in walking, cycling and running as part of their commute and other journeys.


How do we win prizes?

Organisations – A £100 donation will be given as a reward to the workplace that gets the most amount of their employees taking part in the challenge, with £50 given to the workplace that finishes in runner-up position (across three size categories and based on percentage engagement of staff who log a minimum of one activity during the duration of the challenge).  For more information on the workplace categories visit the FAQs page.

Employees – Individuals will earn one BetterTicket for every walking, cycling and running activity they record via the BetterPoints app each week during the challenge (with a minimum distance of half a mile).  At the end of the week all their tickets will go into a prize draw to win a variety of prizes ranging from £40 to £100 with half going to the employee and half to the charity of their choice!

Employees will also have the chance to win prizes during the challenge by taking part in our photography competition.  Photographs are requested on the theme of ‘wrapping up and getting out’.  Every week one image will be chosen, and the winning photographer will win £25 worth of Betterpoints to spend on high street shopping vouchers or donate to charity.

Help promote office banter and develop a fun edge of competition with some ‘Just for Fun‘ leaderboards that will be available to view during the duration of the challenge.

What is the difference between BetterTickets and BetterPoints?

BetterTickets are a prize draw entry earned for doing a specific activity. The tickets you earn automatically enter you into our weekly prize draws.

BetterPoints are something you can win through the prize draws. They are a financially backed currency that you can redeem for high street vouchers or give to your favourite charity or community group. (1,000 BetterPoints is equivalent to £1.)

Does my workplace count as a Norwich or Great Yarmouth workplace?

Any workplace located in the Norwich, Greater Norwich or Great Yarmouth areas can take part. If you are not sure if your location is eligible please contact katie.tierney@activenorfolk.org
